Definition
PrimerLiquid or paste applied onto a substrate to obtain optimum bonding. It helps regulate the porosity of the substrate (reduce absorption, therefore adhesive usage), increase adhesion to non porous surfaces, improves application properties of later on applied adhesive

Uses

UNIPLAN smoothing compound is suitable for thin finishing on:

old adhesive residues
renovated fibreboard
wooden stairs
old floor tiles
cement screeds
for restoring stair risers.

It can be applied in layers between 0.5 and 2 mm thickness. For interior use only.

IMPORTANT: before embarking on any work involving UNIPLAN the separate Product Safety Data Sheet must be studied carefully by those carrying out the work.

Shelf life:

Up to 9 months in the original unopened container, stored between 10° and 30°C. Frost sensitive.

Application

PREPARATION

Subfloors must be sound, of adequate tensile and compressive strength; free from laitance, cracks and structural defects; clean and free from dust, grease, curing compounds, sealers or any other contaminants that would inhibit proper bond.

Substrate residual moisture content must be less than 3%. If not, use Eponal 336 Damp Proof Primer.

Adhesive residues that are hard, sound and water-tight should be mechanically cut-back to a minimum. Soft and weak adhesive residues and smoothing underlayments should be completely removed.

APPLICATION

Mix by stirring immediately before use.

Ready-to-use product – Do not add water.

The smoothing and levelling compound must be applied to the substrate and smoothed with a stainless steel float. Spread the compound to zero in order to fill the pores, then smooth and spread in a regular manner to the desired thickness.

Protect from excessively rapid drying, e.g. due to direct sunlight, draught or high room temperature. Conversely, poor airflow and low temperatures will significantly increase drying times. Do not lay floor coverings until the compound is completely dry.

CLEANING
Clean fresh splashes and tools with water.
