Physical:
- Primer type : water-based solution of synthetic resins
- Colour: white
- Specific gravity (NFT 76.300) : approx. 1.05 g/cm3
- Non-flammable
- Drying time* before self-levelling compound : 1 hour at +20°C and 80% relative humidity (subject to ambient temperature, relative humidity and porosity of the substrate)
- Working temperature: Preferably between +10°C and +30°C. Material and substrate temperature not below +10°C
- Frost/Thaw stable
Consumption:
Approx. 80-100 gsm per coat, depending on the substrate.
Safety:
IMPORTANT: before starting any work involving UNIDUR 10 Primer, the separate Product Safety Data Sheet must be studied carefully by those carrying out the work.
Observe good hygiene in use.
Avoid skin and eye contact. Do not breathe vapours.
Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Shelf life:
Up to 12 months in the original, unopened container, stored at +5°C and +30°. Frost/Thaw stable.
PREPARATION
Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Subfloors must be sound, of adequate tensile and compressive strength; free from laitance, cracks and structural defects; clean and free from dust, grease, curing compounds, sealers or any other contaminants that would inhibit proper bond.
Adhesive residues that are hard, sound and water-tight should be mechanically cut-back to a minimum.
Soft and weak adhesive residues, paint, and gypsum residues should be completely removed.
Substrate moisture content during application must not exceed 3%. If not, use EPONAL 376 Moisture Vapour Barrier coating. .
APPLICATION
Apply 1:3 water-diluted primer evenly in a thin coat using a short-pile roller (coverage: approx. 80-100 gsm per coat). Do not over apply and avoid puddle formation. In case of highly absorbent substrate apply 2 consecutive coats of primer (the first one should be 1:5 water-diluted instead of 1:3). Allow the first layer to dry completely before applying the second layer.
Other possible applications
As an additive:
In hot weather, UNIDUR 10 can be used as an additive for self-levelling compounds in the following cases :
- when temperature is over +30°C : the compound tends to dry and is not easy to spread. To prevent premature drying, we recommend to add UNIDUR 10 to the mixing water (500 g per 25 Kg bag self-levelling compound).
- when the thickness of self-levelling compound is less than 2 mm (also 500 g per 25 Kg bag self-levelling compound).
As an adhesion promoter for cement mortars designed to repair damaged stairs :
a) Apply 1:2 water-diluted primer to joint edges or damaged parts (allow to dry for 1 hour prior to repair)
b) Repair mortar : add 10% of UNIDUR 10 (in weight) to repair mortar.
c) Bonding slurry for laying bonding screed : mix 1 part of water with 1 part of UNIDUR 10 and 2 parts of pure cement. Apply with a brush. Allow to dry before laying the screed.
REMARKS
- Never use UNIDUR 10 undiluted, always dilute according to the given ratio.
- Pre-cast and mechanically prepared concrete must be primed with UNIDUR N.
