TARBICOL A is a fast-setting solvent-based synthetic resin adhesive for securing:
- 8 mm mosaic parquet,
- 10 mm unfinished parquet,
- 15 mm tongue and groove engineered parquet,
- factory pre-finished parquet,
- on-edge floorboards,
- cork underlay.
Suitable for bonding onto all types of substrates such as concrete screeds, cement/sand screeds, flooring grade plywood and particle board, existing parquet flooring, ceramic tiles, anhydrite screeds.
For bonding difficult wood (beech, horn-beech, etc) use TARBICOL PU 2-component polyurethane adhesive.
Physical:

Safety:
IMPORTANT: before embarking on any work involving TARBICOL A the separate Product Safety Data Sheet must be studied carefully by those carrying out the work.
Observe good hygiene in use. Avoid skin and eye contact.
Highly flammable. Ventilate well during and after use. Do not smoke. Keep away from children. Do not breathe vapours.
Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Do not apply impervious protection layers on freshly installed parquet flooring.
Shelf life:
Up to 12 months in the original unopened container stored between +10°C and +30°C.
PREPARATION
Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Subfloors must be sound, even, smooth, permanently dry and free from old adhesive residues, dust, grease or other contaminants.
When overlaying existing floor coverings ensure that they are firmly bonded and clean.
Remove dirt, polish, oil and similar contaminating substances.
When further preparation of the subfloor is required, select suitable Bostik primers and Bostik smoothing and levelling compounds.
Apply our solvent-based primer IMPREGLUE on anhydrite screeds and wood substrates. Several subsequent layers may be necessary (consumption: 120 g/m² per coat).
All surfaces must incorporate adequate damp proofing, if not, they should be primed with EPONAL 336 Moisture Vapour Barrier coating.
Always allow primers and underlayment to dry thoroughly before applying the adhesive.
APPLICATION
Apply the adhesive evenly onto the substrate using a notched trowel N°4. No open time is necessary.
Generally, parquet should be bonded by 1 meter-wide strips and beaten with a mallet or a hammer and a tapping block prior to bonding subsequent strips.
Place the wood flooring immediately in position and press firmly (or roll) over the whole surface to ensure good transfer.
Using wedges, allow a gap of 5 to 8 mm (expansion joint) between the parquet and walls. Gap calculation: 0.15% of the largest dimensions of the area to be covered with flooring. These gaps will be later covered by skirting boards.
Close up the strips or floorboards every 10 to 15 m².
Sanding and varnishing should be done after the painting works.
REMARKS
- Installation of the parquet should be done in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In order to avoid skin formation on the adhesive close the container after each adhesive use.
Cleaning
Tools and fresh spillages should be cleaned with a methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) or acetone.
