PREPARATION
Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Subfloors must be sound, even, smooth, permanently dry and free from old adhesive residues, dust, grease or other contaminants.
When overlaying existing floor coverings ensure that they are firmly bonded and clean.
Remove dirt, polish, oil and similar contaminating substances.
When further preparation of the subfloor is required, select suitable Bostik primers and Bostik smoothing and levelling compounds. All surfaces must incorporate adequate damp proofing, if not, they should be primed with EPONAL 336 Moisture Vapour Barrier coating.
Always allow primers and underlayment to dry thoroughly before applying the adhesive.
Specificity for outdoor playgrounds : the application has to be realised under dry weather with an ambient temperature >5°C. Roll-out the non-woven strips following manufacturer's recommendations.
APPLICATION
Each kit contains one bag (6kg kit) or 2 bags (12kg kit) of hardener. The full quantity has to be incorporated to the resin inside the plastic drum.
Mix the two components using an electric drill and a mixing paddle (200-300rpm) until a uniform non-marbled green colour is obtained. Do not mix at a high speed : higher temperature will reduce the mixture pot life.
Apply the adhesive evenly onto the substrate using :
- for synthetic grass bonding on non-woven strips : notched trowel N°C3 = apply approx. 500g per linear meter.
The glued surface has a minimum width of 240mm on all the length of the strips.
- for all floorcoverings with a smooth, polished underside : notched trowel N°A5 = apply approx.300g/m²
- for all floorcoverings with a rough underside : notched trowel N°2-B1 = apply approx.400-500g/m²
- for rubber-backed floorcoverings : notched trowel N°3-B2 = apply approx.600-700g/m²
No waiting time is necessary. It exhibits an inital adhesion which improves during the adhesive film hardening.
Distorted or rigid floorcoverings may need to be weighted and retained in position until full cure.
Cure rate depends on temperature and the quantity of the adhesive applied (the higher the quantity, the faster the adhesive heats up and cures).
Lay the floor covering whilst the adhesive remains tacky . Use a rubbing block and/or roller to expel trapped air and ensure good transfer of the adhesive. After 30-40 minutes, repeat.
The joins have to be realised following manufacturer's recommendations in accordance with building standards.
REMARKS
- Adhesive film can foam with the humidity.
- Do not apply under rain.
- Tightly close all containers after use.
Cleaning
Tools should be cleaned with acetone.
