ROXOL HR4

Self-levelling compound for heavy duty areas and locations with high point loading

Uses

ROXOL HR4 self-levelling compound is suitable for smoothing and levelling of screeds, concrete floors and other hard, rigid bases, up to a maximum thickness of 15 mm in a single work step.
ROXOL HR4 is suitable for heavy duty areas or locations with high point loading (from 3 mm thickness) such as collective kitchens, airports, railway stations, hospital corridors.
Paintable
.
Suitable under PVC coverings, carpeting, lino, parquet and tiles.
Not to be used as a wearing surface. For interior use only.

Benefits

  • Self-levelling
  • From feather edge to 15 mm
  • Pumpable
  • High resistance to puncture
  • Excellent adherence
  • Suitable for all types of existing floor coverings
  • Little or no sanding required
  • Red-coloured to provide visual quality control
  • Suitable for underfloor heating
  • Suitable under parquet at thickness over 2 mm
  • Suitable under fork-lifts at thickness over 3 mm

Properties

Physical:

  • Composition: Synthetic resin modified cement powder, low in chromate
  • Working temperature : Preferably between +8°C and +25°C. Not below +5°C or above +30°C
  • Mixing ratio: 6 litres of water per 25 kg bag
  • Working time/Flow life: 20 minutes
  • Set for walking: 2 to 4 hours
  • Dry for floor covering: after 24 to 48 hours for acrylic glues, 72 hours for resin alcohol or neoprene glues
  • Resistant to castor wheels: at 1 mm or above
  • Compressive strength: After: 28 days = 39 MPa

Consumption:

1.5 kg of powder/m² per 1 mm thickness

Safety:

IMPORTANT: before embarking on any work involving ROXOL HR4 the separate Product Safety Data Sheet must be studied carefully by those carrying out the work. Do not breath dust, PREVENT skin and eye contact with powder and particularly the wet material when mixed. Strong alkali when wet – can cause serious eye damage and may cause an allergic reaction resulting in skin disorders

Shelf life:

Can be stored up to 9 months in dry conditions.

Application

PREPARATION
Subfloors must be sound, of adequate tensile and compressive strength; free from laitance, cracks and structural defects; clean and free from dust, grease, curing compounds, sealers or any other contaminants that would inhibit proper bond.

Substrate residual moisture content must be less than 3%.
For anhydrite slabs, moisture content should be less than 1% for laying textile coverings and ceramic tiles, 0.5% for laying plastic coverings and parquet floors.

Adhesive residues that are hard, sound and water-tight should be mechanically cut-back to a minimum.
Soft and weak adhesive residues and smoothing underlayments should be completely removed.

New asphalt screeds should be sand-blasted.

Tiles must be firmly adhered to the base, re-fix them if necessary. If the floor tiles are easily removable, remove them completely.

Moisture content of substrate should be less than 1% for textile coverings and ceramic tiles, 0.5% for plastic, lino and parquet floors.

Underfloor heating
Underfloor heating systems must comply with current building regulations. In all cases drying time must be respected. Turn off the heating 48 hours before starting the work. The heating should be turned up to its operating temperatures gradually, in stages over 48 hours after laying the floor covering. Do not apply when underfloor heating is in operation.

The following substrates must be pre-treated with suitable Bostik primers and bonding agents:

PRECAUTION: Before using primer read the primer data sheet carefully and respect our recommendations for ground preparation. Before proceeding with the subsequent application of the compound, always allow primers to dry in accordance with the technical information. Always allow at least 24 hours drying time for anhydrite screeds.

APPLICATION
Pour approx. 6 litres of clean water (water temperature +8° to +20°C) into a clean mixing bucket. Stir the compound powder into water with an electric drill and mixing paddle (<500 rpm) to obtain a lump-free mixture.
After mixing, a maturing time of at least 1 minute is recommended to optimise flow. Remix for 30 seconds.
The smoothing and levelling compound must be applied to the substrate within the specified working time and smoothed with a stainless steel float. Spread the compound to zero in order to fill the pores, then smooth and spread in a regular manner to the desired thickness.
In hot weather add 1 kg of Adjuvant Force 3 per 25 kg bag while reducing the water dose by ½ litre.
Any subsequent application of ROXOL HR 4 is best performed as soon as the first layer is set for walking but still damp. If it is dry, an intermediate primer coat of water-based primer UNIDUR N (diluted) or UNIDUR 10 is required.
In case of several lays of self-levelling the upper lay must not exceed the thickness of the bottom lay.

MECHANICAL PREPARATION (PUMPABLE)
ROXOL HR4 can be mixed using a continuous "mixing-pump". In this case the optimum water content is regulated on the basis of product viscosity. This one must be equal to the viscosity obtained by standard mixing of 1 bag in 6 litres of water. (See the technical guidance / procedure relative to the technical system for preparing interior floors for the application of thin floor coverings).
Once mixed, ROXOL HR4 is pumped and applied to the desired thickness (15 mm maximum in one single continuous coat).
Hint: For thicker layers, using a spiked roller will help air evacuation and improve surface finish.
For all additional information, please contact our technical department.
Protect from excessively rapid drying, e.g. due to direct sunlight, draught or high room temperature. Conversely,  poor airflow and low temperatures will significantly increase drying times. Do not lay floor coverings until the compound is completely dry.

CLEANING
Tools may be cleaned with water whilst the mix is still wet.
