PRIMAIRE CONDUCTEUR is a water-based electrically conductive dispersion primer used for producing a conductive layer under conductive or antistatic textile and PVC floor coverings.
Suitable onto subfloors of concrete, sand/cement screed, anhydrite screeds, smoothing underlayments, flooring grade plywood and timber.
It prevents when used with our conductive adhesive the build-up of voltage potential and electrostatic loadings, e.g. in operating rooms in hospitals, computer rooms, electronic production, laboratories, telecommunications centres, workrooms and storage areas.
For interior use only.
PREPARATION
Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Subfloors must be sound, of adequate tensile and compressive strength; free from laitance, cracks and structural defects; clean and free from dust, grease, curing compounds, sealers or any other contaminants that would inhibit proper bond.
EPONAL 336 Moisture Vapour Barrier coating may be required where the residual water content is too high, especially common in new construction.
Anhydrite screeds must first be mechanically sanded and thoroughly vacuumed. Adhesive residues that are hard, sound and water-tight should be mechanically cut-back to a minimum.
Soft and weak adhesive residues and smoothing underlayments should be completely removed.
Concrete screeds should be pre-treated in advance with one of our levelling compounds: ROXOL S for normal wear locations, ROXOL S + ADJUVANT FORCE 3, ROXOL HR, ROXOL FLEX (wooden floors) for heavy duty locations.
APPLICATION
Shake well the container before use in order to homogenize the conductive particles. Apply a full and even coat of conductive primer onto the dry substrate using a fine-pored foam roller over the whole area. Avoid pooling. Allow to dry for 2 to 4 hours (at 20°C, 65% RH) prior to installation of copper strips.
Due to the excellent conductivity of our PRIMAIRE CONDUCTEUR, it is necessary to place only a 1.5-metre or 2-meter length of copper strip onto the prepared substrate for every 40 m² of floor area, leaving a 15 cm connection tab projecting at the perimeter (for earth connection by an electrician). The copper strip should be adhered with our COLLE CONDUCTRICE conductive adhesive. If the total floor area exceeds 40 m², use one copper strip per each 40 m² of floor area.
PRECAUTION: After installation, the earth connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with electrical trade regulations.
REMARKS
- In all cases, refer to the manufacturer's installation instructions regarding conductive floor covering.
- For works requiring guaranteed conductivity, it is necessary after the installation to check electrical resistivity of the entire system (substrate and floor covering) according to the norms and standards of the country.
- PRIMAIRE CONDUCTEUR should not be applied before levelling compound. It is a conductive layer, its role is neither to increase the bond-strength nor to reinforce loose parts of the surface.
- Always shake well before use.
Cleaning
Clean with warm water.
