Technical Data Sheet (TDS)

NM 105

High-performance levelling and smoothing screed (1-5 mm)

Uses

BOSTIK NM 105 standard self-levelling compound is suitable for smoothing and levelling of screeds, concrete floors and other hard, rigid bases, up to a maximum thickness of 5 mm in a single work step.
BOSTIK NM 105  is suitable for normal wear (plastic and textile coverings) in domestic/residential and light commercial premises (class P2).

For premises with high traffic (class P3), BOSTIK NM 105can be used only with Adjuvant Force 3 additive (from 3 to 10 mm thickness); it is then suitable for high traffic floor coverings including parquet floors and tiles.

Not to be used as a wearing surface.
For interior use only.

Benefits

  • Thickness of application: (class P2 - from 1 to 5mm, class P3 with additive - from 3 to 10mm)
  • Very good smoothing capability, easy to prepare, very smooth finish, reduced sanding
  • Does not shrink
  • No primer needed on normally absorbent surfaces
  • Pumpable (for P2 only) or manual application
  • Suitable for underfloor heating
  • Packaging available in 6 languages: English, Bulgarian, Romanian, Russian, Ukranian and Kazakh.

  • Resistant to castor wheels: at 3 mm or above
  • Compressive strength after 28 days  : mini 20 MPa
  • Flexural strength after 28 days = 6 MPa

Consumption:

approx. 1.5 kg per square meter and per 1 mm layer thickness

Safety:

IMPORTANT: before embarking on any work involving BOSTIK NM 105 the separate Product Safety Data Sheet must be studied carefully by those carrying out the work.

Do not breath dust, prevent skin and eye contact with powder and particularly the wet material when mixed. Strong alkali when wet – can cause serious eye damage and may cause an allergic reaction resulting in skin disorders.

Shelf life:

Can be stored up to 9 months in dry conditions.

Application

PREPARATION
New construction: mechanically sanded screeds, incorporated cement screeds, concrete slabs, prefabricated concrete floors and asphalt screeds.
Renovation:
existing tiling, terracotta, certain glue layers, asphalt screeds, plasterboard, rigid plastic tiles, semi-flexible and vinyl-asbestos tiling.

Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Subfloors must be sound, of adequate tensile and compressive strength; free from laitance, cracks and structural defects; clean and free from dust, grease, curing compounds, sealers or any other contaminants that would inhibit proper bond (see Subfloor Preparation Guide).
Substrate residual moisture content must be less than 3%.
For anhydrite slabs, moisture content should be less than 1% for laying textile coverings and ceramic tiles, 0.5% for laying plastic coverings and parquet floors.

Underfloor heating
Underfloor heating systems must comply with current building regulations. In all cases drying time must be respected. Turn off the heating 48 hours before starting the work. The heating should be brought up to its operating temperatures gradually, in stages over 48 hours after laying the floor covering.
The following substrates must be pre-treated with suitable Bostik primers and bonding agents:

PRECAUTION: Before using primer read the primer data sheet carefully and respect our recommendations for ground preparation.
Before proceeding with the subsequent application of the compound, always allow primers to dry in accordance with the technical information.

MANUAL APPLICATION
Pour approx. 6 litres of clean water (water temperature +8°C to +25°C) into a clean mixing bucket. Stir the compound powder into water with an electric drill and mixing paddle (<500 rpm) to obtain a lump-free mixture.
After mixing, a maturing time of at least 1-1.5 minute is recommended to optimise flow. Stir again for 30 seconds.
The smoothing and levelling compound must be applied to the substrate within the specified working time and smoothed with a trowel.
Hint: For thicker layers, using a spiked roller will help air evacuation and improve surface finish.
Any subsequent application of BOSTIK NM 105 is best performed as soon as the first layer is set for walking but still damp. If it is dry, an intermediate primer coat of water-based primer UNIDUR N (diluted) or UNIDUR 10 is required.

MECHANICAL PREPARATION (PUMPABLE)
BOSTIK NM 105 can be mixed using a continuous "mixing-pump". In this case the optimum water content is regulated on the basis of product viscosity. This one must be equal to the viscosity obtained by standard mixing of 1 bag in 6 litres of water.
Once mixed, BOSTIK NM 105 is pumped and applied to the desired thickness (5 mm maximum with additive in one single continuous coat).
Protect from excessively rapid drying, e.g. due to direct sunlight, draught or high room temperature. Conversely,  poor airflow and low temperatures will significantly increase drying times. Do not lay floor coverings until the compound is completely dry.

REMARK
Mixing ratio when using with additive (for high traffic)
Pour approx. 5 litres of water in a clean mixing bucket, add 1 kg of ADJUVANT FORCE 3, mix them prior to addition of compound powder and stir with mixer. Other steps are similar to the above description (see Manual application).

CLEANING
Tools may be cleaned with water whilst the mix is still wet.
