Safety:
IMPORTANT: before embarking on any work involving BOSTIK TARBICOL KP5 the separate Product Safety Data Sheet must be studied carefully by those carrying out the work.
Observe good hygiene in use. Avoid skin and eye contact.
Shelf life:
Up to 24 months in the original unopened container stored between +5°C and +30°C. Frost/thaw stable down to -10°C. In case of product freezing, put the bucket into the heated room (+25°C) for at least 24-48 hours. Mix well before application.
PREPARATION
Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Subfloors must be sound, even, smooth, permanently dry and free from old adhesive residues, dust, grease or other contaminants.
When overlaying existing floor coverings ensure that they are firmly bonded and clean.
Remove dirt, polish, oil and similar contaminating substances.
When further preparation of the subfloor is required, select suitable Bostik primers and Bostik smoothing and levelling compounds.
Apply our solvent-based primer IMPREGLUE on anhydrite screeds and wood substrates. Several subsequent layers may be necessary (consumption: 120 g/m² per coat).
All surfaces must incorporate adequate damp proofing, if not, they should be primed with Eponal 376 Moisture Vapour Barrier coating.
Always allow primers and underlayment to dry thoroughly before applying the adhesive.
APPLICATION
Apply the adhesive evenly onto the substrate using a notched trowel Pajarito N°69. No open time is necessary.
Generally, parquet should be bonded by 1 meter wide strips and beaten with a mallet or a hammer and a tapping block prior to bonding subsequent strips.
Place the wood flooring immediately in position and press firmly (or roll) over the whole surface to ensure good transfer.
Using wedges, allow a gap of 5 to 8 mm (expansion joint) between the parquet and vertical walls. Gap calculation: 0.15% of the largest dimensions of the area to be covered with flooring. These expansion joints will be later covered by skirting boards.
Close up the strips or floorboards every 10 to 15 m².
Working time is approx.10-20 minutes.
Bonding cork underlay
Apply the adhesive evenly onto the substrate (consumption 600 g/m²). Slightly pre-wet the upper side of cork underlay before applying the bottom side onto the adhesive to guarantee the same water content to both sides. Allow a gap of 3 to 4 mm between cork tiles and between cork underlay and walls. Allow the adhesive to dry completely (approx. 1 to 4 days) before installing parquet flooring onto cork underlay.
Allow a waiting time of approx. 24 hours before opening to foot traffic.
Sanding and varnishing can be done after 5-7 days.
Varishing should be done after painting works.
REMARKS
Do not apply an impervious protection finish on freshly installed parquet flooring.
Avoid adhesive contact with non-treated iron as it will cause stains on the wood surface.
Installation of the parquet should be done in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instruction.
Cleaning
Tools and spillages are cleaned easily with water.
