Application

All phases of the installation should comply with existing building standards.

Subfloor: Ensure the subfloor is clean, sound, dry and free from contaminants that may hinder adhesion, including surface hardeners and additives. The subfloor should be tested using a properly calibrated and insulated hygrometer. A reading of 75% RH or less confirms that the subfloor is satisfactorily dry. Where this has not been attained, it is necessary to apply a surface membrane to suppress residual moisture. For further information contact Bostik Technical Service.

Smoothing compounds: Mechanically remove any surface treatments on concrete bases. Repair any deep indentations in the subfloor with a rapid repair mortar. When floor requires smoothing, apply a suitable smoothing compound at a minimum thickness of 3mm.

Existing floor coverings: Bonding over existing floor coverings should be avoided wherever possible as results cannot be guaranteed. For situations where the floor covering cannot be removed, contact Bostik Technical Service.

Priming: Clean surfaces thoroughly. Prime boards and other porous surfaces with suitable primer and allow to dry. This is particularly important with hardboard, chipboard and plywood. Ensure the manufacturer recommends the floor covering for use with the particular substrate.

APPLICATION
Porous surfaces:
Using a triangular-notched trowel (1.5mm deep at 5mm centres), spread adhesive evenly over substrate with a sweeping motion at a 60° angle. After approx. 15 minutes (adhesive still wet), the floor covering may be placed into position then apply even pressure to ensure good overall contact. For embossed floor coverings increase trowel notch size (2mm deep at 6mm centres).

Non / Low-porous surfaces:
It is recommended to apply a suitable smoothing compound to a minimum depth of 3mm and allow to dry overnight. Proceed as for porous surfaces.
