Epoxy adhesive for structural strengthening

Uses

EPONAL 380 is a two-component solvent-free epoxy adhesive suitable for:
  • bonding Hypalon and soft PVC to concrete
  • horizontal embedding of steel / concrete
  • bonding concrete elements

Safety:

Shelf life:

Up to 24 months in the original, unopened containers, stored in a dry place between +5°C and +25°C.

Application

Application conditions
Working temperature: +10° to +30°C
Relative humidity: maximum 80%
Substrate temperature must always be at least 3°C above the dew point temperature during application and cure.
 
Surface preparation
Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Surfaces must be clean, sound, dry, of adequate compressive and tensile strength (at least 25 MPa and 1.5 MPa respectively after 28 days cure for new concrete) and without hydrostatic counter-pressure. They must be free from laitance, clean and free from dust, grease, curing compounds or any other contaminants that would inhibit proper bond. Depending on surface condition and type, substrates are treated by abrasive blasting, mechanical planing, scabbing, sandblasting, high pressure water washing or chemical stripping. After mechanical treatment of a subfloor, thoroughly vacuum all dust.
Hypalon strips should be degreased with MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone), soft PVC should be primed before bonding.
 
Application of EPONAL 380 
Slowly add the hardener into resin (components A + B) while mixing, mix thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes with an electric drill and mixing paddle (speed: 200-300 rpm in order to avoid air bubbles inclusion) until uniform colour is obtained. Apply immediately the mixture with a trowel onto the concrete substrate, then bond Hypalon strips (degreased with MEK) or soft PVC (primed with XPU 18144 R / 460B system).
