BORDURE

Ready-mix glue for hanging all types of borders

Uses

QUELYD BORDURE is a ready-mix acrylic adhesive with a high bond-strength for hanging all borders over any wallcovering, wallpaper and substrate.

Properties

Physical:

  • Adhesive type: water-based adhesive of acrylic resins
  • Colour: pale cream
  • Specific gravity: approx. 1.5
  • pH in solution: approx. 9.0
  • Resistance to micro-organisms: very good
  • Working time: 30 minutes subject to ambient conditions, relative humidity and substrate porosity
  • Open time: 0 to 10 minutes subject to ambient conditions, relative humidity and substrate porosity
  • Full cure: after 24-48 hours subject to ambient conditions, relative humidity and substrate porosity
  • Working temperature: between +10° and + 25°C
  • Frost-sensitive
 

Consumption:

500g for approx. 30 linear meters of border

Safety:

IMPORTANT: before embarking on any work involving QUELYD BORDURE the separate Product Safety Data Sheet must be studied carefully by those carrying out the work.
Observe good hygiene in use.  Keep out of reach of children and animals. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Shelf life:

Up to 24 months in the original unopened container, stored between +5 and +30°C.

Application

PREPARATION
Preparation should be in accordance with building standards. Substrates (wallpapers and vinyls) must be sound, even, smooth, permanently dry and free from dust, grease or other contaminants.
 
APPLICATION
Before application stir well the adhesive in the plastic bucket or gently squeeze the closed tube.
Adhesive is READY TO USE. DO NOT DILUTE.
Avoid adhesive spillages on the surface of the wallcovering.
 
HANGING BORDERS
A) hanging over vinyls: apply a thin, even coat with a brush (DO NOT DILUTE) to the area where the border is to be placed. Observe an appropriate open time. Hang the border and smooth it delicately, do not use excessive pressure as it can force adhesive out of seam and edge areas. (1)
 
B)  hanging over other wallcoverings: apply a thin, even coat with a brush (DO NOT DILUTE) on the back of the border. Fold the border (or "book") pasted side to pasted side in accordion fashion. Observe a booking time of 10 minutes. Hang the border and smooth it delicately, do not use excessive pressure as it can force adhesive out of seam and edge areas. (1)
 
(1)  In case of high curling of the border, it may be necessary to moisten the back of border before adhesive application. Book it and wait for several minutes,  then apply on wallpaper surface.
 
REMARKS
- Carefully read the hanging instructions and strictly follow the manufacturer's recommendations
 
Cleaning
Tools can be cleaned with hot water whilst the adhesive is still wet.
