IDENDEN 10-188

Water-based structural adhesive

Uses

  • Idenden Water Based Structural Adhesive 10-188 is a rapid drying, water borne, trowelling grade co-polymer adhesive with a wide range of uses, including bonding foam, cork, felt and fibrous slabs to themselves or to wood, glass, painted metal, rigid plastics or to building surfaces.
  • Idenden Water Based Structural Adhesive 10-188 is used in military applications for bonding Mineral Wool Marine Board to ships platework.
  • Idenden Water Based Structural Adhesive 10-188 is off-white in colour, and is supplied as a trowel grade paste.  It remains semi-flexible when dry, and exhibits very good water resistance.

Benefits

  • Excellent adhesion qualities
  • Very good wet tack
  • Good specific adhesion to painted metal
  • Safer and easier to use than solvent based adhesives
  • Quick drying
  • Semi-flexible and water resistant when dry
  • Wide service temperature range
  • Low flammability

Application

1. Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from dust and any loose materials.

2. For the majority of applications, 100% surface coverage at the rate of around 1 square metre per litre is necessary.  For applications such as low density fibrous insulation to metal ducting, or foamed insulation panels to walls where panels are standing on the floor it is acceptable to apply adhesive at the reduced rate of 2 square metres per litre, at 50% coverage in a cross-hatch pattern.

3. Clean application equipment and remove excess adhesive immediately with water.

NOTE:  When bonding high density fibrous insulants or rigid foam insulants apply Idenden Water Based Structural Adhesive 10-188 to the insulant by notched trowel (with 3 mm teeth) and immediately place into position and apply firm hand pressure.

When bonding fibrous slabs to masonry surfaces apply to masonry surface only and press slab into wet adhesive.  If foil faced slabs are used, allow 24-36 hours for moisture to dissipate before completing the vapour barrier with Idenden self-adhesive aluminium tape.

Do not apply Idenden Water Based Structural Adhesive 10-188 in wet weather.
